Music has always been an important part of life
at Fairhaven. We have a large and active music program for people of
all ages and musical tastes. Approximately 75% of the church's active
membership participate in one or more of our choirs or musical activities.
VARIETY is a good word to describe the service music at Fairhaven. We
love music and present virtually every type and style throughout the church
year - contemporary Christian, traditional, Gospel, spirituals, and choral
classics. In addition to the Sanctuary Choir (Fairhaven's primary church choir), we
have a 14-member Handbell Choir. Volunteer directors work with our Gospel
Choir and Children's Choir. Our church is blessed
with many fine instrumentalists who participate regularly
in our services and special programs. If you don't like the type of music you hear one
Sunday at Fairhaven, come back the next week. You'll probably hear something entirely different!
Sanctuary Choir

Hui Ju Chen, Director/Accompanist
Fairhaven's principal choir, the Sanctuary Choir sings at most
services and for all major holidays. This choir sings
a large variety of music and forms the nucleus of Fairhaven
Musical Theater.
Gospel Choir

Freddie Payton, Director; Esther Lyons, Accompanist
Specializing in Gospel music, this choir sings approximately twice a month at
the Sunday morning service. The Gospel Choir often participates in Gospel programs
at area churches and hosts an anniversary concert at Fairhaven the
first Sunday in October.
Handbell Choir

Hui Ju Chen, Director
This choir plays approximately once every six weeks and participates
in all Fairhaven Musical Theater productions. Fairhaven has a
three-octave set of Schulmerich Handbells and a two-octave set of
choir chimes.
Children's Choir

Jean Sansonetti, Director; Doug Ortega, Accompanist
The youngest of Fairhaven's choirs, the Children's Choir sings at
the Sunday morning service
approximately once a month and for most major holidays. The Children's choir
also participates in many Fairhaven Musical Theater productions.
Fairhaven Musical Theater

Fairhaven's musical programs extend beyond Sunday services - and sacred music.
Fairhaven Musical Theater (a large group of singers, instrumentalists, actors
and dancers from the church) presents a holiday program the first weekend in
December and an annual spring show in April. Past programs have included pops
concerts of Broadway show tunes, a Medieval Banquet, jazz clubs, a Gershwin
recital, Scrooge, dinner theaters, international music concerts, staged cantatas,
and original musical plays.
Afternoon Arts

Afternoon Arts is an annual series of visual and performing arts programs. 45-minute
music recitals (featuring both vocal and instrumental music) are followed by an art
exhibit and special reception in the Fellowship Hall.
